Internet Access With a Local Call — Worldwide!
Get local-call access to the Internet from every major city in the world through Xecunet's True Global Internet Roaming service enabled through iPass! iPass is an easy, convenient, cost-effective solution for travelers, students and telecommuters who don’t want to make long-distance telephone calls to access their home Internet accounts.

Better quality connections that cost less.

  • Roaming charges are significantly less than long-distance charges
  • Better quality Internet connections with local calls
  • Log into a local number from virtually anywhere with one account
  • Gain access to all Internet services including e-mail
  • Receive only one bill for all Internet and roaming charges

Using iPass is easy.
All you need is an Xecunet account and the iPass connection software, which Xecunet provides at no additional cost. There are three software options:

  • iPass Dial Wizard for Windows 95
  • iPass Dial Wizard for Macintosh
  • Microsoft Connection Manager for Windows 95 or NT

The connection software has a simple point-and-click interface so you can connect to a local access number from anywhere in seconds. You maintain one account with Xecunet, continue to use the web browser and e-mail program of your choice and always use the same user ID and password.

How does iPass work?
iPass forms relationships with ISPs around the world that have high-quality, far-reaching Internet networks capable of providing access in distant locations. When you travel outside of our regular service area, you can dial into any of the worldwide iPass access points using your iPass connection software. You will log in with your standard user name and password, appending @xecu.net at the end of your user name (e.g. john@xecu.net). Your authentication request will be encrypted and sent over the Internet to your home provider's authentication server. In 5-10 seconds, the server will check your information and send an authorization response (or denial if appropriate) back to the ISP you are dialing into. iPass tracks the time you are connected to enable your ISP to accurately bill you for the services used.

Where are roaming numbers available?
Roaming coverage extends to more than 150 countries and 3,000 locations. You can now enjoy local-call access to the Internet from every major city in the world. The complete list is available here.

How to Roam
The iPass software contains an international phone book with iPass access points and login information. A simple point-and-click interface acts as an "assistant" and creates a connection to the Internet based on the country, city and phone number selected.

Before You Roam
There are three important things to do before you travel:

  1. Test the connection software before roaming
Follow the instructions for installing the iPass Dial Wizard or Microsoft Connection Manager and test its operability before you begin traveling. We suggest that you test several access points.

  2. Understand that modems function differently worldwide
Many countries have different telecommunications laws and practices. Check with your modem supplier to ensure your modem will be compatible with the phone systems in the country where you are traveling. Many of the older modems are not compatible from country to country. Make sure you also have compatible electrical power adapters for the country where you are roaming.

  3. Update your iPass connection software
Before you begin roaming, consult with us to make sure you have the most recent release of the iPass connection software. This will ensure you have the current access numbers before you roam as iPass adds new phone numbers regularly.

How Much Will it Cost?
Xecunet charges a five-dollar flat fee per month, plus roaming charges based on the connecting location. You pay the flat fee only for the months in which you use iPass and the charges for the iPass Global Internet Roaming service will be included your monthly invoice from Xecunet.
